Pediatric Neuropsychological Evaluations

 

Neuropsychological Evaluations assess the faculties of the brain and the effect on behaviors. A comprehensive battery is conducted to examine areas responsible for cognition, executive functioning, attention, self-regulation, language, and socio-emotional functioning. Neuropsychological evaluations can be used to determine a baseline of strengths and weaknesses, serve as a developmental checkpoint to examine change or growth, and conclude a number of diagnoses, such as:

  • Learning Disabilities

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder

  • Executive Functioning Deficit

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Anxiety or Mood Disorders

  • Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder

Recommendations following the evaluation can include specific, concrete strategies to support a child to better navigate their challenges across academic, community, and home environments.

Pediatric Psychological Evaluation

Pediatric Psychological evaluations are used to address clinical questions related to an individual’s internal processes in relation to mental and emotional functioning. Objective and projective measures are given to assess facets of personality, broad range of clinical presentations, readiness for change or treatment, and thinking style. Psychological evaluations can be used to determine:

  • Differential Diagnosis (e.g., Mood, Anxiety, OCD, Personality)

  • Clinical Treatment Recommendations and Obstacles

  • Interpersonal Style

  • Malingering

Psychoeducational Evaluation

Psychoeducational Evaluations are used to determine a child’s cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses, as well as emotional and behavioral challenges that may have an impact on overall functioning in the academic setting. Recommendations following the examination may include strategies aimed at optimizing learning, support for cognitive and academic weaknesses, giftedness, and identification of areas that may require further assessment.
